Guatemala is well-known these days for producing some beautiful jadeite jades - and none more so than the blues found in the deposit mined by the Olmecs centuries ago and lost to the world for some three hundred years. This pendant is carved from a rich, Maya-blue piece of jadeite from the Olmec deposit, and showcases some of the beautiful tan to golden rind inclusions occasionally seen in such stones. Thanks to its high gloss, it showcases a spectacular translucency bordering on transparency in full sunlight. And it's so different between its two sides that it can effectively serve as two different pendants, depending on its wearer's tastes on any given day.
Measuring in at 52mm long and 15mm wide at its widest point, the smaller size and consequent light weight of this pendant makes it an excellent piece for the petite wearer. And with its striking colour and patterns, this is an elegant piece for fancy or formal wear.
