Common across many cultures, pectoral pendants are designed to rest between the collarbones and over the chest, and to represent status and importance. This gorgeous example was carved from a cobble of kokopu jade found by our carver on a Greymouth beach many years ago - a piece that sat unworked in his collection until the idea for the right use to put it to came along. And this is that use - a bold piece showing off the natural spotted patterns for which kokopu jades are so well-known.

Measuring in at 66mm deep from the top of its horns to the pendant's base, it possesses a total width of 121mm. It's thus a big and bold piece - yet the dished curvature that it's been given makes it light enough in weight to be easily and comfortably worn by most people. The rich brown and black of its spotting complement its softer, minty-green tones perfectly, making it a striking piece for formal or occasional wear.
